Fortress Marienberg (German: Festung Marienberg) is a prominent landmark on the Main river in Würzburg, Germany. The mighty Fortress Marienberg is the symbol of Würzburg and served as a home of the prince-bishops for nearly five centuries. It has been a fort since ancient times. After Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden conquered the area in 1631, the castle was reconstructed in the Baroque style. Today, it is a park and museum.

The construction of the hall church started 1377 and was completed with the tower against 1480th Rich Bauzier found plastic sheets, especially in the areas of portals. Particularly noteworthy are the figures Adam and Eve, by sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider were produced. The originals are now in Mainfränkisches Museum to visit, they have been replaced by copies in 1975. After the bombing and fire in 1945, in which burned the entire roof and the wooden interior was completely re-equipped the Lady Chapel. On the altars there are four panel painting of 1514.
Significant here is the silver Madonna over the altar of the north aisle, created in 1680 by Johann Kilian. In the aisles, there are numerous monuments of Frankish knights and citizens of Wuerzburg, including the tomb of Konrad von Schaumberg († 1499) of Riemenschneider. In the Portal market, a bronze plaque notes the tomb of the great Baroque architect Balthasar Neumann (1687 to 1753).

Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt and Maximilian von Welsch, leading representants of the Austrian/South German Baroque were involved as well as Robert de Cotte and Germain Boffrand, who were prominent architects of the French Style. Balthasar Neumann, architect of the court of the bishop of Würzburg, was the principal architect of the Residenz, which was commissioned by the prince bishop of Würzburg Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn and his brother Friedrich Carl von Schönborn in 1720 and was completed in 1744. The Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, assisted by his son, Domenico, painted frescoes in the building. The most spectacular interiors include the grand staircase, the chapel and the grand salon. The building was dubbed the "nicest parsonage in Europe" by Napoleon. It was heavily damaged in World War II, and restoration has been in progress since 1945.
